The Kawasaki Ki-102 was a Japanese ground attack aircraft and a heavy low wing fighter from the Second World War. The drive was provided by two Mitsubishi engines Ha-112-II with 1500 HP each . The prototype flight took place in 1944, and serial production continued in the years 1944-1945, ending with the production of about 240 copies of this aircraft. The on-board armament - in the basic version - consisted of a 57 mm Ho.401 cannon, two 20 mm Ho-5 cannons and a single 12.7 mm machine gun. The armament, however, changed significantly depending on the version of the aircraft. The Kawasaki Ki-102 also had a bomb load capacity of up to 500 kilograms.

The Kawasaki Ki-102 was created as a development of the Ki-96 aircraft in order to replace the Ki-45 Toryu in the line. The new machine was characterized by a large operating range and good performance, but in terms of maximum speed it was inferior to machines such as the P-51 Mustang or the P-38 Lightning. In the course of serial production, three main versions of the Kawasaki Ki-102 were created. The first one was called Ki-102a and was a heavy day fighter. The second, designated Ki-102b, was an assault version that was produced in the largest number of copies. The last mass-produced version was the Ki-102c, a night fighter. Kawasaki Ki-102 machines took a limited part in the hostilities, with the exception of operations in the Okinawa Island area in 1945, when they were used on a larger scale.
