The GAZ-69 off-road car was developed in the late 1940s. Serial production began in 1952 at the GAZ plants in the city of Gorky, and later also at the UAZ plants in Ulyanovsk. Serial production continued until 1972. The GAZ-69 was powered by a single R4 M-20 engine with 55 hp and a capacity of 2.1 liters. It also had a 3-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive (4x4). The GAZ-69 off-road vehicle was created as the successor to the GAZ-67. In the basic version, it could carry 8 people, including two in the front seats, or 500 kg of cargo. The original version had a two-door body, but in 1951 a four-door body (GAZ-69A) was developed. The GAZ-69 was characterized by very good off-road characteristics, high reliability and simple design. These elements made it the basic, light off-road vehicle of the Soviet Army and the Warsaw Pact countries. A self-propelled anti-tank missile launcher called 2P26 was also developed on the GAZ-69 chassis. The GAZ-69 off-road vehicle It was replaced in the 1970s by the UAZ-469. However, to this day (2017) it remains in service with the armies of countries, such as North Korea.
