The Ducati 999 is an Italian sports and racing motorcycle that was first presented to the public in 2003. Its serial production started at the same time and continued until 2006.

The 999 model was developed and put into production to strengthen the company's position in the sports motorcycle segment, as well as to replace the 998 model in the commercial offer and on the track. The new motorcycle was designed by Pierre Terblanche. It differs from its predecessor mainly in the design, which is even more streamlined, as well as improved aerodynamic properties. The exhaust system and the drivetrain were also resolved somewhat differently. The drive itself was also changed - it was still a 2-cylinder engine with a marginally increased capacity (from 998 cm3 to 999 cm3), but generating a significantly higher maximum power (138-145 HP). The motorcycle had great traction properties, it stuck to the road well, was able to accelerate up to 270 km / h, and in the 999S and 999R versions its acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was less than 3 seconds! It is not surprising that the Ducati 999 turned out to be a very successful motorcycle and its riders won the Motorcycle World Championship in 2003, 2004 and 2006!
