The MV Colombo Express is a modern German container ship that was launched in 2005 and entered service the same year. The total length of the ship is 334 meters and 42 meters wide. The top speed does not exceed 20 knots, and the propulsion is provided by diesel engines with a total power of 93,500 KM. The tonnage of the vessel is 93,750 GT.
The MV Colombo Express was built at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea in 2004-2005 and its owner is Hapag-Lloyd AG. The vessel is currently one of the largest container ships in the world, and at the time of launching it was the largest ship of this type. However, it only held the palm of priority for a year. The MV Colombo Express is also the first unit of the container ship class of the same name, with a total of 8 ships. The vessel operates mainly on the route Hamburg - South-East Asia. It is worth adding that in 2014 the unit had a collision with another container ship ( MV Maersk Tanjong) in the waters of the Suez Canal.
